Dubai: A taxi driver denied molesting a 17-year-old while dropping her off at the Metro station, the court heard.

Prosecutors accused the 39-year-old Bangladeshi driver, M.A. of sexually assaulting the Indian girl on the journey.

According to the charges, prosecutors said the Bangladeshi defendant repeatedly touched the girl indecently against her will.

The victim claimed that when she first took the cab to the Metro station, she sat in the back seat and was sweating a lot. So. the driver asked her to sit in front because the AC was works better in front. She said she refused, but he kept insisting. When he stopped the car and asked her to sit in front once again, she accepted.

The victim added in her testimony that the suspect asked her to fasten her seatbelt, but after she did so, he began opening and closing it, touching her indecently several times and then he decided to change his route. She said she was getting really scared and asked him to stop and drop her at the Metro station. When she left the car, she saw a police officer standing by the Metro station and told him about the incident.

The police officer who spoke to the Indian victim testified that there was a taxi driver who dropped a girl who looked very frightened and then hurriedly drove off. The terrified girl then told the police officer about the incident.

Based on the Public Prosecution papers, the suspect had told prosecutors that he accidentally touched the girl’s breast while helping her put on her seatbelt.

Presiding Judge Ezzat Abdullah Mansour adjourned the case until the suspect presents his written defence on October 16.
