Dubai: A senior Dubai Police official denied media reports of the arrest in Dubai of Anwar Babu Shaikh, who is allegedly wanted in murder and extortion cases in India and had an Interpol arrest warrant issued in coordination with authorities in India.

The source told Gulf News that there is no one with that name arrested in Dubai nor is there any record of him entering the UAE.

Gangster Chhota Shakeel’s brother Anwar Babu Shaikh is allegedly wanted in a murder case of Gujarat BJP leader Haren Pandya and for extortion cases in Mumbai, according to a report by the Times of India.
