Dubai Police arrest 20 year old for possessing 4.kg of heroin

Dubai: A 20-year-old university student has been arrested in Dubai following a tip-off for possessing 4.6kg of heroin.

The Asian student, identified as A.S.N., was arrested as he tried to dig up four bags of the drug that were buried under a truck parked in Al Muraqqabat.

The student was picking up the bags via an assignment he had received from another Asian man living outside the UAE, who is wanted in the emirate of Abu Dhabi for drug dealing, and who is said to have often given directives to A.S.N regarding operations and pick-ups. A.S.N was supposed to deliver the drugs to a client, whom he did not know.

Colonel Eid Mohammad Thani Hareb, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Dubai Police, expressed his regret at A.S.N.’s alleged involvement and other Emirati and expatriate youngsters who might undertake criminal acts that can pose a risk to both themselves and their families.

A.S.N. will face charges of promoting and consuming drugs.
