Woman claimed suspect dropped colleagues first, got into the back seat and asked to have sex with her
Dubai A minibus driver has been accused of removing a saleswoman’s shirt, groping and kissing her after dropping off a number of employees to their homes.
The 27-year-old Pakistani driver, Q.K., reportedly picked up seven employees, including the Filipina saleswoman, who all worked for a garment shop in a mall, and was dropping them to their homes when the incident happened on November 16.
Prosecutors charged the man with sexually molesting the Filipina when he kissed and touched her private parts in the backseat of the minibus.
The defendant pleaded not guilty when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday.
“What did you do to her? What happened then?” presiding judge Urfan Omar asked the suspect, who is in custody.
“Sir I did not molest her...she fabricated these allegations against me. We had an argument because I dropped her on a street that she claimed was far from her home,” Q.K. said in courtroom seven.
The woman claimed to prosecutors that the man was supposed to drive her and her colleagues home.
“Shortly after he dropped off the other passengers, he said that he won’t take me to my residence because he wanted to take me to his house. When I asked him why, he told me that I was beautiful and he wanted to have sex with me.
“I immediately scolded him and asked him to take me to my residence. Instead of taking me home, he parked the bus below a buildings and moved to my seat. He tried to grope me...then he removed my shirt and molested me. He also kissed me. I pushed him away and jumped out of the bus. I hid in a Filipina woman’s car,” the woman said.
Meanwhile, the Filipina woman, whose car the victim got into, testified that she was sitting in her car in a parking lot when the victim ran towards her car and asked her to help her hide.
“She came inside my car and hid under the seat while she told me that a Pakistani man had molested her. She was very scared and I couldn’t clearly understand what she was telling me. I spotted the suspect looking for her but I did not see his face clearly,” the witness claimed to prosecutors.
A ruling will be heard on February 13.
