DNA tests conducted by Dubai police on a body found near the Palm Deira beach have confirmed that it is that of the Senegalese girl as reported by Gulf News.
Three-year-old Maboob Mammy Fatema went shopping for shoes on Friday, September 23, with her mother near their home in Naif, Deira, when she suddenly disappeared.
On September 29, Gulf News exclusively reported that Maboob's body was found on the beach near Palm Deira with marks of injury to her chest. The body was decomposed, sources had said.
A source yesterday told Gulf News that it appeared someone who was close to the girl had lured her away. The source said: "I don't think the suspect used force and kidnapped the girl. I think the girl went willingly and she did not shout or scream.
"It seems the person was very familiar with her. It was daylight and the place was crowded, yet no one heard screams."
The source said the girl's family did not take care of her. "In fact, she was neglected. The girl's father works in Dubai, he brings people from Senegal and trades in visas. He rents two apartments in one building to his business clients. The father has four wives two of them live in Dubai and two in Senegal."
Police are investigating the cause of the death. They said the case is complicated and they are still questioning many people.
