Cook jailed three months for kissing and groping woman
Held guilty of luring job seeker to his flat to discuss employment contract
Dubai: A cook will be jailed for three months for kissing and groping a woman job seeker whom he invited to his flat to discuss a job offer.
The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the 34-year-old Syrian defendant, M.A., of sexually molesting the 27-year-old Filipina in his flat.
"The accused will be deported following the completion of his jail term," said Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad when he pronounced yesterday's judgment.
In court, the accused, M.A., pleaded not guilty and denied the Filipina's claims. According to the arraignment sheet, prosecutors said M.A. molested 27-year-old G.S. when he lured her to his flat under false pretences.
When G.S. was questioned she claimed she met the cook in a restaurant where he worked, two days before the incident.
She said when she went to the defendant's flat, he locked the door and he took off his trousers. She said the defendant was in his boxer shorts when he kissed, groped her. She claimed that he then tried to make her lie on the bed. G.S. said when she threatened to scream, M.A. threw her out.
Prosecution records did not specify when and how the defendant was reported to the police before he was arrested and referred to court.
Yesterday's judgment remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
