Court documents reveal that the plaintiff had paid the amount as an initial installment
Al Ain: The Al Ain Civil, Commercial and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a man to repay Dh 4,000 after he failed to fulfill an agreement to secure a job and residency visa for another man’s sister.
Court documents reveal that the plaintiff had paid the amount as an initial installment of a total Dh 8,000 deal in exchange for processing the residency and employment of his sister in the UAE.
However, the defendant failed to complete the agreed-upon procedures, leading the plaintiff to file a civil lawsuit seeking Dh 26,000 in damages, including the original payment, Dh 5,000 in travel expenses, Dh 2,000 for a tourist visa, and Dh 15,000 in rent paid during the period.
In response, the defendant acknowledged receiving the Dh4,000 for handling the employment visa process but argued that his company’s internal conditions prevented him from completing the transaction.
He denied liability for the other claimed costs and expressed willingness to return only the initial sum, without additional compensation.
The court sided partially with the plaintiff, concluding that while the defendant had indeed received funds under a specific commitment, he failed to meet his obligations.
The judge ordered him to return the Dh 4,000 and cover the legal fees and court expenses, rejecting the plaintiff’s broader compensation demands due to insufficient legal grounds.
