3.36kg of heroin and 5,939 Captagon pills seized in two separate incidents within 24 hours in Al Ghuwaifat border

Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Customs foiled two attempts of narcotics smuggling at the Al Ghuwaifat border in a period of just 24 hours, seizing large quantities of heroin and Captagon pills, after acting on information received by the Anti-Narcotics Department at the Abu Dhabi Police.
In the first incident, a truck being driven by an Asian driver was stopped and inspected by custom authorities, who discovered 3.36 kilograms of heroin inside the truck’s cabin.
The suspect, who was driving a four-wheel vehicle, had wrapped the pills around his feet with duct tape in his attempt to hide the tablets.
Both suspects have now been transferred to the judicial authorities for prosecution.
Mohammad Khadem Al Hamli, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Customs Department, commended the successful operations.
“The General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Customs continues its duties in maintaining security and protecting society and the environment from the risks of illegal trade, combating smuggling and commercial fraud,” he said.
