Dubai: Children visiting Dubai Mall are in for a treat during Dubai Summer Surprises as they can enjoy the City of Friends show, which is based on the Norwegian bedtime stories.

City of Friends is a series of children’s books created by Carl Christian Hamre for his son. Inspired by his day-job as a Special Forces police officer in the Norway State Police, Hamre recreated these stories from his daily adventures while working with the Emergency Services.

The daily show runs for free until July 8 at 4pm, 6pm and 8pm during weekdays. An additional show takes place at 9pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

Families who attended the opening show on Thursday were fascinated with the performance and enjoyed watching their favourite book characters come to life. Children were also given the opportunity to take pictures with their favourite characters right after the show.

Families that are looking for an alternative place away from shopping centres can also head down to Modhesh, as it continues to attract thousands of tourists from the Gulf and other parts of the world with its indoor edutainment theme park.

“Modhesh World is for everyone, for children, teenagers and even for parents. The best thing is, everything comes under one roof. We love the Heritage Zone where we enjoyed tasting Emirati food and the Youla local dance is incredible,” said Saleh Al Marri, from Saudi Arabia.

Promising ease of access and more fun, its new location at Dubai World Trade Centre features a free parking area which has a capacity of 2,000 cars and multi-storey indoor parking with a capacity of 1,200 cars for Dh10 per day.

Okba and his wife Fathma from Morroco, who live in Sharjah said: “Modhesh World is on top of our list of places to visit every summer. Our 7-year-old daughter Shurooq, is very fond of the yellow colour and adores Modhesh so we make sure that we are present in all his shows. Shahed, our four year old son, loves it here because it’s a fun place and there are other kids who are playing with him.”

Modhesh World, due to popular demand, will be welcoming families and children all summer long and will remain open until August 25, running through DSS, Ramadan in Dubai and Eid in Dubai.
