DUBAI A novel water slide is all set to take Dubai by storm.

Called the City Slide, the giant slope will roll out to the public at a two-day event in Dubai next month.

The 1,000-foot slide with two lanes will be the longest street slide in the city and is being positioned as a rare treat for anyone who wants to escape the summer heat.

“Dubai really needs such a crazy waterslide in this scorching heat,” said Uttam Kumar, managing director of event organiser Tamquest Entertainment.

He said the inflatable slide, from Germany, has done its rounds in other European countries like Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, England, Mexico, Spain and France before coming to Dubai.

According to Kumar, the event will be divided into five two-hour time slots between 11am and 11pm, giving participants enough time to soak in the fun. Also planned are water balloon fights, water guns and other attractions like bungee jumping, a mini aqua park, a DJ arena and a concert.

He said the exact venue and dates of the event, besides the cost of the entry tickets, are still being worked out. The minimum age to participate is five years. Residents and visitors can keep track of the event and get its updates on the Facebook page City Slide Dubai or Instagram page @CitySlideUAE.
