Quick-thinking woman saved toddler from near-tragedy in Ajman
Ajman: A vigilant Arab woman is being praised for her swift and heroic actions after helping rescue a toddler from a potentially fatal fall from a high-rise balcony.
The dramatic incident unfolded when the woman noticed a young child climbing dangerously on the edge of a balcony across the street from her home. Realising the imminent danger, she immediately called the police. Officers responded quickly and were able to intervene before tragedy struck.
Brigadier General Abdullah Saif Al Matroushi, Director General of Police Operations in Ajman, honored the woman for her presence of mind and strong sense of civic duty.
Colonel Ghaith Khalifa Al Kaabi, Head of Al Madinah Comprehensive Police Station, explained that the two-year-old child had used a chair to climb up to the balcony railing. At the time, he was unsupervised, creating a highly dangerous situation.
Thanks to the woman’s prompt action, the child was saved without injury.
Following the incident, the parents were summoned by authorities, and legal action was taken against them for negligence. Police confirmed that their failure to supervise the child placed him in serious danger.
Colonel Al Kaabi emphasized the importance of child safety in high-rise residences, urging all families to take preventive measures and never leave children unattended.
“Children are a tremendous responsibility and a trust that must be safeguarded,” he said. “Neglecting their safety is not only reckless but also a violation of UAE child protection laws.”
