Two icons win big at Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève

Often called the “Oscars of watchmaking,” the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève GPHG celebrates excellence across the industry, with an independent jury evaluating the finest timepieces released over the past twelve months.

This year, DANIEL ROTH and gérald genta secured two of the ceremony’s top honours. At the awards ceremony for the 25th Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève on November 13, 2025 in Geneva, the gérald genta Gentissima Oursin Fire Opal watch was awarded the prestigious prize in the « Ladie's » category, while the DANIEL ROTH Extra Plat Rose Gold watch was awarded the prestigious prize in the 'Time Only' category.

Coming straight from the gérald genta lab, This fourth piece in the Gentissima Oursin collection is a testament to design and creativity pushing the boundaries of horological traditions. The legacy of Mr. Genta strikes at first sight in terms of aesthetics and construction, with individually screwed fire opal gems surrounding the circumference of the yellow gold case of this limited-edition watch. This piece perfectly reflects the Maison's philosophy of being the starting point for those looking for distinction and elegance in a collection that allows for endless creative possibilities.

“With this piece, we pushed the boundaries of the Gentissima Oursin creative concept to deliver something enshrined in rare gems, paying homage to Mr. Genta's passion for organic colors, beautiful stones, and beauty in general,” Matthieu Hegi, Artistic Director of gérald genta explains.

On the other hand, the new DANIEL ROTH Extra Plat Rose Gold builds on Mr. Roth's legacy of tradition and High Watchmaking, echoing the beginning of the brand in the 1990s and on the heels of the most recent launch. As with the Extra Plat Souscription, the Extra Plat Rose Gold is powered by the new calibre DR002, developed and assembled by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton under the supervision of Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini.

While honouring the original design, the rose gold 5N case retains the iconic double-ellipse silhouette with a centred gadroon for a balanced profile. Its redesigned lugs feature softer curves and a downward angle to ensure a more comfortable fit.

Rose gold is a luminous and captivating precious metal, offering a contemporary allure while remaining deeply rooted in classical watchmaking” says Matthieu Hegi, Artistic Director of DANIEL ROTH.
