India U-16 colts lose third friendly to UAE

Dubai: The Indian under-16 football team, training in Dubai ahead of the final phase of the AFC tournament later this month, lost 3-2 to UAE in the last friendly at the FA Stadium on Saturday.

India opened the scoring in the 25th minute through Daniel Lalamphuia but by the end of the first half the UAE clawed their way back into the game, scoring three goals.

India then reduced the deficit from the spot through Alen Deroy. In spite of India’s spirited performance, the score remained in favour of the hosts until the final whistle.

India have been clubbed in Group D for the AFC tournament with Uzbekistan, Syria and China.

India play Uzbekistan in their first match on September 23.
