Dubai: Kerala had an amazing domestic run this season. After having entered the Ranji Trophy final for the first time ever they fell short in the last hurdle to lose to Vidarbha last month.

The victory made the Kerala cricket team a talking point in the domestic circuit.

So to ensure they continue the strong show for the forthcoming season, Kerala Cricket Association announced a tour to Oman as part of the next season preparations later this month.

The 16-member squad will play five 50-over matches against the ICC-ranked national team.

While Kerala star cricketers Sanju Samson and Sachin Baby will not be part of the squad due to IPL commitments, last season's star batter Mohammed Azharuddeen will lead the side.

The wicketkeeper-batter had a prolific season amassing 635 runs while his teammate Salman Nizar finished a close second with 628 runs.

The series is expected to start on April 20 to 26.
