The Delhi Premier League is scheduled to begin on July 5
Dubai: Aaryaveer Kohli, son of Virat Kohli's elder brother Vikas Kohli, along with Aaryavir and Vedant Sehwag — the sons of former India opener Virender Sehwag — have been included in the first draft of players for the upcoming Delhi Premier League (DPL), scheduled to begin on July 5.
Fifteen-year-old Aaryaveer trains under Raj Kumar Sharma, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, at the West Delhi Cricket Academy. He has been placed in Category C, having represented the Delhi Under-16 team last season.
Aaryavir Sehwag, who has played for the Delhi Under-19 side, made headlines with a stellar 297-run innings against Meghalaya. His younger brother Vedant, an off-spinner, has also featured for the Delhi Under-16 team.
In the 2024 season, East Delhi Riders clinched the DPL title with a thrilling three-run victory over South Delhi Superstarz in the final. The league featured six teams last season: East Delhi Riders, North Delhi Strikers, West Delhi Lions, South Delhi Superstarz, Purani Dilli 6, and Central Delhi Kings.
This year, the DPL expands to eight teams with the addition of two new franchises: Outer Delhi and New Delhi.
