Dubai: UAE Women's cricket team captain Esha Oza said she was really looking forward to the new chapter after the UAE Cricket team achieved their first-ever ICC One-Day International status for the 2025-29 cycle starting from May 12.

The UAE earned the status through their high T20I ranking among Associate Members.

"I'm proud of what we have achieved and excited about this new chapter ahead," Esha said. "I would like to congratulate everyone involved with the ECB on this hard-earned and historic achievement. This has been made possible through collective effort and inception," she added.

The promotion means USA lose their ODI status. Thailand and Scotland maintained their ODI status by qualifying for the Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. Papua New Guinea and the Netherlands retained their status based on their T20I rankings.

Emirates Cricket Board Vice-Chairman Khalid praising the women's team said: "his is a monumental milestone that showcases the talent, determination, and commitment of our women's team.

"I congratulate captain Esha Oza, the players, coaching staff and the entire team on this remarkable achivement. This success reflects our ongoing development efforts, and we remain committed to providing top-tier facilities and opportunities for women players at all levels, driven by talent programmes across the UAE. We wish the team the very best as they embark on an exciting future in the 50-over format."

UAE are currently in Bangkok participating in the quadrangular T20I series which also involves Thailand, Hong Kong and Kuwait.
