Dubai: Motorists were urged to take caution as a blanket of fog and mist covered Abu Dhabi and Dubai roads on Sunday, bringing visibility to less than 500 metres. Make sure to follow these steps while driving in foggy conditions in the UAE.

The temperature on Sunday will hit a maximum of 43C in internal areas, with humidity expected to peak at 90 percent, according to the weather bureau.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said that the weather over the next two days will be partly cloudy in general and hazy at times, accompanied with light to moderate winds.

Fog will continue to affect residents from the early hours of the morning until 8.30am, according to the NCM, who said that the level of humidity will rise again at night.

Sharjah Police urged motorists to take caution while driving and to leaving a sufficient distance between vehicles.

“Due to the fog and low visibility, we advise drivers to adhere to the speed limit and to not abruptly change lanes unless it is absolutely necessary,” said a Sharjah Police spokesperson.

The NCM also reported heavy fog and mist over Al Maktoum International Airport, Al Ain Airport, and other parts of the Abu Dhabi emirate.

Minimum temperatures ranged from 21-28C in coastal areas, 19-25C in internal areas and 18-24C in the mountain region.

Maximum highs ranged from 32-39C in coastal areas, 36-43C in internal areas and 26-33C in the mountain region, with the level of humidity expected to peak at 90 per cent inland and along the coast.

The sea's waves will be mild in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
