Sharjah: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has finalised its preparations for the Sharjah Ramadan Festival 2018. The festival, which is in its 29th edition, will take place all around the emirate, and will be held from May 17 to June 18.

The festival is being organised by the chamber, in cooperation with a number of public and private institutions in Sharjah. The festival will host various activities and events that will enhance Sharjah’s status as a tourist destination in the region during Ramadan.

The festival will witness the participation of a number of shopping centres and retail stores in Sharjah. These stores and malls will launch promotions and discounts that are up to 75 per cent off their original retail price, in addition to organising draws for six luxury cars and other valuable prizes.

Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, chairman of the SCCI, said: “The chamber has organised the festival for 29 years in the aim of achieving two pivotal goals. The first goal is to create an event during Ramadan that enhances the lives of the emirate’s residents and visitors, which comes as part of the framework of the chamber’s commitment to the principles of social responsibility. The second is to stimulate various economic sectors, such as the hospitality and trade sectors, to help invigorate the emirate’s business community.”

Ebrahim Rashid Al Jarwan, coordinator of the festival, said the festival will include ‘Ramadan Nights 2018’, which will be organised and hosted by Expo Centre Sharjah, with the support of the SCCI. It will run from May 31 to June 16. He said the exhibition will offer shopping discounts up to 80 per cent off.

Shoppers can participate in the weekly and final draws with the purchase of Dh100 at any of the participating stores. The winners of the draws will win one of the various festival prizes, which include six luxury cars, flight tickets and trips, and other prizes.
