Abu Dhabi: The 44th National Day must be celebrated in accordance with the law and violators risk legal consequences, the Ministry of Interior said on Sunday.

In Abu Dhabi, an official parade will be held for both UAE nationals and residents although spraying paint and aerosols on others during the festivities is forbidden.

Additionally, motorists must ensure that their vehicles are not overloaded with people and that no passengers are hanging outside the vehicle. As is customary, stopping on the side of streets, main roads and at bus stops and taxi stands is also prohibited for regular vehicles as is stopping on the road. Using noisy accessories and speed boosters is punishable, especially in residential areas. Camels and horses are strictly forbidden from being used on the roads and vehicles must have their licence plates visible at all times as obstructing them is in violation of the law.

All flag poles must be fixed on the back of vehicles and their colours must not be changed while tinting windshields and the driver’s window are not allowed.

The public is instructed to maintain civilised behaviour and to obey the laws. dViolators may have their vehicles impounded for a month and face a Dh2,000 fine and 12 black points.

Yas Marina Circuit is hosting the National Day Colours celebration from 2.30pm to 6.30pm on December 2 and the occasion will include live music, fireworks, flag dancers, Arabic calligraphy, UAE-themed live statues and children’s activities, among others. Entry is free for all,
