Abu Dhabi: The UAE celebrated the International Youth Day by launching the “UAE Youth Global Initiative” to enhance the Emirati youth’s global role and introducing the UAE’s authentic values and culture, its civilised experience in tolerance, coexistence, building human capital and empowering young people.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, launched the initiative on Sunday while attending a youth circle titled “The role of UAE youth globally”, which was organised by the Federal Youth Authority at Al Bahr Palace.

Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and Shaikh Khalid Bin Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, were present on the occasion. Also present were Shaikh Khalifa Bin Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Director of The Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court and Shamma Suhail Faris Al Mazroui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs.

The initiative aims to activate the role of Emirati youth globally, achieve leadership and enhance the reputation and prestige of their country as well as strengthening the ties between the Emirati youth and their counterparts in the world.

It also aims to support the Emirati youth’s participation in various international events and official missions abroad and introducing the UAE’s experience and strategy of empowering its youth through launching positive messages about their leadership, values, morals and achievements.

Shaikh Mohammad stressed that youth are the foundation of progress and development in every society and that the great nations invest, train, empower and utilise their youth in the best possible way as they are treasure and the inexhaustible source of nations and the key engine for development of any country.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his delight at meeting some of the outstanding Emirati youth, saying: “You are the best of our people, you are the sons of Zayed. This country and its future is your responsibility. You’re the UAE’s best representatives in various areas.”

“We are in a non-stop race with the world and we can achieve progress through our investment in two basic pillars: science and national quality that will lead the country in the coming stages. These two are the strategic choice of the UAE and its bet to achieve what it longs to.” the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince added.

He called on the youth to transfer to the world the UAE’s bright cultural image, authentic values, its rich Arab culture, ancient heritage and its people’s ethics, as well as its customs and traditions. He also called on them to extend bridges of human and cultural communication between the UAE people and those looking forward to openness to the other at various levels.

“We are in a country that has a broad and well-founded foundation of young people inspired by the principles and values inherited from the founding fathers and has become a genuine national approach in the service of our country and belonging to its land. The UAE’s wise leadership led by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan pays utmost attention to the progress of youth towards greater levels of excellence, scientific and technological achievement and innovation so as to place our country at the forefront of the world’s leading countries on all levels.

"This is to be achieved through the Emirati youth’s effective efforts and determination, Shaikh Mohammad said, adding that the national initiatives and strategies being implemented by the UAE to empower its youth is the best evidence of that.

The newly launched initiative will provide an opportunity to the UAE’s youth to be trained in major international companies to gain experience and prepare a generation well-informed about the most important sectors in the world.

The initiative will also include meetings for Emirati young people around the world to learn about global trends and best practices as well as the role of young people in enhancing competitiveness of the UAE globally.

It also comprises organising programmes and joint events with young people from around the world to introduce the UAE’s values and culture and give an opportunity for cultural and scientific exchange.

As part of the initiative, youth delegations will be hosted from around the world by the UAE to showcase its comprehensive development experience and the empowerment of youth.

The initiative’s activities will focus on empowering the UAE youth to contribute to the country’s development and its vision aiming to be the best homeland in the world, in addition to presenting the UAE experience in building young people as the strongest and most valuable resource and making them the best ambassadors for their country.

Shamma Al Mazroui thanked Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed for attending the youth circle, which reflects his keenness on interacting with Emirati youth and listening to them and sharing their hopes and ideas.

She lauded Shaikh Mohammad’s support and attention for empowering and training young people to enhance their role in serving the nation.
