Dubai: The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi has warned residents against using three unlicensed sexual stimulants that threatened consumers’ health.

The cautionary message was issued after the health authority ordered the removal of Magic Chocolate, Pena Tropin Capsules and VM Plus Capsules from the market.

The Department of Health said laboratory results proved that the three products contained ingredients not mentioned in the products’ labelling, which included sildenafil, tadalafil and vardenafil.

These are approved in prescription drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction. However, such hidden and undeclared ingredients in health supplements may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels and impair the cardiac function.

The authority also warned that male enhancement supplements can cause other serious side effects like vision defects and shortness of breath, and can lead to a severe drop in blood pressure that can threaten the patient’s life.
