Man climbs roof of Abu Dhabi petrol station and threatens to kill himself

25-year-old creates panic among staff and customers after climbing on roof and threatening suicide

Abu Dhabi: A mentally-disturbed Asian man caused panic among staff and customers of a petrol station in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday morning as he threatened to commit suicide.

He tried jumping off the roof of the gas station in Al Khazna area on the Abu Dhabi to Al Ain Road, Abu Dhabi Police told Gulf News on Wednesday evening.

The 25-year-old man climbed up to the roof of the petrol station and threatened to jump.

Abu Dhabi Police patrols arrived immediately after receiving reports about the suicide attempt at around 10am.

Police officers spoke with the man, pacified him and convinced him not to jump.

The man was eventually brought down safely.

Police said the man was suffering from a psychological disorder.

Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the suicide attempt.
