Abu Dhabi: The UAE football fraternity was shocked on Friday with the news of the tragic death of budding talent Mohammad Abdullah Al Hammadi.

The 22-year-old Emirati defender, who played for Al Dhafra, died in a traffic accident in Al Dhafra Region of Abu Dhabi.

The club expressed their condolences, on their official website, to the player’s family on behalf of all members of the club, Board of Directors, players, technical bodies and employees.

“It is painful news. We offer our condolences to the family of our former player. The death occurred in a traffic accident at 5.30pm yesterday, and the management of the club received the shocking news and will be next to the player’s relatives at these times,” said Ahmad Omran Al Qubaisi, vice-chairman of Al Dhafra Football Company.

Al Hammadi, who moved to Al Dhafra from Al Jazira, made his local debut in 2014 and had scored six goals in 59 appearances in all tournaments.
