Ajman: More than 121,000 counterfeit auto spare parts valued at millions of dirhams have been seized by Ajman Police.

The counterfeit products, all of which were presented as products of global trademarks, were on their way to the market to be sold to consumers and were found after police received information from the lawyer working for the auto brands company.

Police raided the warehouse in Al Jurf area where a large quantity of fake auto spare parts was seized. Samples were taken for testing and they turned out to be fake.

The fake parts include 69, 000 parts for Toyota vehicles, 34,000 parts for Honda vehicles, as well as 18,000 parts for Isuzu. The fake parts were seized in warehouses in Ajman and Jebel Ali in Dubai.

Four Asians, identified as L.Sh., W.M., J.Z, and Z.T., were arrested in connection with trading in fake auto spare parts. The suspects led police to their store in Jebel Ali where fake auto parts were seized.

The suspects were transferred to the public prosecution for further action.

Lieutenant Colonel Ali Jaber Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamdiyah police station, said that the police will take strict measures to protect the emirate’s market from counterfeit auto parts and added that such acts aim to achieve profits at the expense of people’s safety. He said that fake parts can lead to accidents that can endanger lives.
