A 34-year-old woman visitor has been jailed for six months for pulling the hair of her countrywoman and breaking her arm during a catfight involving three women in a flat.

A 32-year-old Moroccan businesswoman invited her 36-year-old countrywoman friend to spend some time at her flat in the Business Bay area in April 2017.

The elder woman had been involved in a previous financial dispute with the 34-year-old visitor, who shared the same flat with the businesswoman.

When the 34-year-old spotted the 36-year-old woman entering the flat, she asked the latter why she had not repaid her the debt.

The two indulged in a heated argument that developed into a physical altercation between the three Moroccan women.

The 34-year-old pulled the businesswoman by her hair and while doing so she hit one of the walls, fell down and broke her arm.

The businesswoman was rushed to hospital and had a cast on her fractured arm.

Once she was discharged from hospital, she complained to the police.

The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the 34-year-old defendant to six months in jail followed by deportation

According to the primary ruling, the 32-year-old and 36-year-old defendants were referred to the Dubai Misdemeanours Court to be tried for cursing the 34-year-old woman.

The victim sustained a five per cent permanent disability in her arm. The defendants pleaded not guilty.

In her capacity as a victim, the 32-year-old testified that the assault happened once she and her friend entered the flat that she shared with the visitor.

“My flatmate had a previous financial dispute … they had a heated argument and the visitor assaulted me once I tried to stop her from attacking my friend. I had a broken arm,” she said.
