Dubai: A doctor, who molested a woman patient and touched her indecently at his house where he was practising unlicensed naturopathy and alternative medicine, has been jailed for six months.

The 47-year-old Indian doctor, K.K., had been treating his 22-year-old countrywoman and touched her inappropriately while using naturopathy, a form of alternative medicine, in November 2014.

The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the defendant of abusing the woman sexually and using his residence to practise medicine without being licensed to do so.

The suspect, who had won awards in alternative therapies, entered a not guilty plea when he defended himself in court.

“I did not do so,” argued K.K. as he produced in court his medical certificates and awards to the presiding judge confirming that he had behaved ethically.

According to Sunday’s ruling, the accused will be deported following the completion of his jail term.

The woman patient said K.K. is very famous for practising naturopathy and alternative medicine in India.

During prosecution questioning, K.K. claimed that he massaged the woman and treated her in a way as required by alternative medicine. He denied her molestation claims.

Sunday’s ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
