Cairo: An Arab coalition, supporting the Yemeni government in fighting Al Houthis, said on Saturday, it had helped 86 child soldiers, earlier recruited by the Iran-backed militants, reunite with their families.

The coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, recently handed back the 86 children to their families, the alliance added, according to Al Arabiya.

“Al Houthi militias continue to recruit children and expose them to perils,” the coalition said in a statement.

The alliance said that protecting Yemeni children and preventing their engagement in war is among its priorities.

The Saudi charity group, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief), has organised a series of courses aimed at rehabilitating Yemeni children sent by Al Houthis to battlefields.

The Riyadh-based centre is currently holding a rehabilitation course for 27 ex-child fighters in Yemen’s north-central province of Ma’rib.
