Dubai: An Emirati student faces four months in jail for taking his 13-year-old compatriot schoolgirl into his friend's bedroom and kissing her while sleeping, ruled a court.

The Dubai Court of First Instance jailed the 19-year-old Emirati, A.M., for three months for hugging and kissing his teenaged compatriot while she slept on the bed of his Emirati friend, K.S.

Presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout, who pronounced yesterday's judgment, said the accused was handed one month in jail for trespassing into K.S.'s villa without permission.

Prosecutors accused A.M. of molesting his compatriot and trespassing into K.S.'s villa, damaging the doorknob and assaulting K.S. when the latter tried to kick him out.

When he appeared in court, A.M. argued: "I trespassed into the villa and broke the doorknob."

The schoolgirl testified that she got acquainted with the suspect one-and-a-half year prior to the incident through his sister.

"One day, I sneaked out of our house from the backdoor and joined him in his car. He drove to his friend's house in Al Rashidiya. No one was at home. He asked me to go with him to the bedroom and when I asked him if K.S. knew, he told me ‘don't worry he will come soon'. When his friend arrived, they quarrelled… then we went inside and I fell asleep… when I woke up I saw him sleeping on the floor. Then my mum called me on his phone and asked him to drop me home," she said.

The girl claimed that she didn't realise that A.M. kissed and hugged her while she slept.
