Angry women protesters on Wednesday tried to smear black ink on the face of the main accused in the shelter home rape scandal, Brajesh Thakur, as he was being brought to a local court in Bihar on Wednesday.

After their efforts were initially stymied, the demonstrators finally threw the ink on Thakur’s face and clothes he was inside the court, prompting police to bolster security arrangements.

Thakur later requested the court to make special security arrangements during his appearance, saying he feared he would be lynched by the angry mob.

“Make special arrangements for my court appearance or I will be lynched,” he requested the court.

He also complained he was being badly treated and humiliated in custody.

The judge listened to his claims but didn’t say anything, witnesses said.

Meanwhile, police have detained one female protestor in connection with the ink incident.

Protesters were demanding the death penalty for the accused.

The state government already is under fire after a police probe revealed the main accused enjoyed close tiews with the husband of Bihar social welfare minister Manju Verma, considered very close to chief minister Nitish Kumar.

Their proximity was established after the investigating agency obtained detail records of three mobile numbers used by Thakur prior to his arrest.
