Patna: Three sisters were chopped to death after allegedly being gang-raped in Bihar on Monday night. The incident took place in Karda village, Banka district, some 200km east of Patna.

Reports said the victims aged between eight and 14 years were asleep in their thatched house when the miscreants barged into their room, raped and killed them with an axe. Police said the criminals might have eliminated them after being identified by victims. The girls' parents were away at the time of the crime.

As per reports, the victims' mother was away to see their ailing father who works as a migrant labourer in neighbouring West Bengal.

The incident came to light after other villagers didn’t see the girls late into the day and went to their home.

It was there they saw the half-naked bodies of the girls lying in a pool of blood and their clothes strewn about.

Subsequently, they informed the police.

“All the three girls have been cruelly killed. A look at their bodies indicates they may have been raped,” the local district superintendent of police Chandan Kumar Kushwaha told the media on Tuesday.

According to him, the police have detained two suspects and further investigation is on.
