Hyderabad: Hyderabad city police on Tuesday took the BJP legislator Raja Singh into preventive custody from his residence in Goshamahal.
Raja Singh, who created a stir by resigning from the BJP last week ,saying he would like to focus on cow protection, had threatened that if cows were slaughtered during Eid Al Adha there would be mob violence.
A team of North Zone police task force made the arrest and moved him to a police station.
City police commissioner Anjani Kumar said that the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) was taken into custody in view of his threat to go on an indefinite fast in front of police commissioner’s office.

Raja Singh had planned the fast demanding a ban on the slaughter of big animals on the occasion of Eid Al Adha on Wednesday.
He also alleged police were booking false cases against the “Gau Rakhshaks”, or volunteers working to protect cows.
He criticised the police, saying they had failed in preventing the slaughtering of cows and bulls.
In a video message released on Monday evening he said, “If I am arrested, I will continue my hunger strike even in jail”.
Assault
Police were on alert in the city after the attack on a vehicle transporting two bulls in the Moazzam Jahi market area three days ago.
A crowd assaulted the person transporting the animals.
Police booked a case against Raja Singh and his supporters when they allegedly attacked policemen demanding that the seized animals should be shifted to Gaushala and not to a compound of the municipal corporation.
“A case was booked as they obstructed police officials from discharging their duties and also stoked communal tensions by raising provocative slogans”, said assistant commissioner of police M .Chetana.
Eid Al Adha will be celebrated in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana on Wednesday when the faithful will sacrifice animals, mostly goats and sheep.
