Thiruvananthapuram: Five people were killed in two separate road accidents in Kerala on Sunday. In one accident, a car rammed behind a trailer truck that was parked by the roadside at Pattambi and got trapped under its body. Three people travelling in the car were killed, while three others have suffered serious injuries. The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Ajmal Pengattiri, 21, a footballer, his mother, Suhara, 46, and the car driver, Salman Jaseel, 21. The injured Jasina, 32, Rejina, 30, and her son Mohammad Rahnas, 14, are admitted to a private hospital in Perinthalmanna.

They were returning home from Ernakulam when the accident occurred. Initial reports said the driver may have slept at the wheel, leading to the accident.

In another accident involving a collision of a car and a van at Chavakkad near Thrissur, a man and his son lost their lives. The deceased were identified as Abdul Rahman and his son, Shafi, natives of Kottakkal.

Five others were injured in the accident. They were travelling from Kottakkal to Ernakulam when the accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
