Dubai: If you are giving your car to a friend to drive, you can now add their details to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) system, to make sure notifications for parking offences are delivered to their mobile number as well as to you.

A new service launched by Dubai’s RTA, allows the driver’s data to deliver the parking offence notification to the vehicle’s user as well as the owner.

When selecting the service, you can also select the period of time for which the driver will be using the car. According to the RTA, this can also help car lease and rental companies as well as any private companies that provide vehicles to employees.

Here is how you can apply for the service:

Step 1: Visit www.rta.ae

Once you visit the website you will have to log into your account. If you do not have an account, you would need to set one up and add your traffic file number and vehicle plate number to be able to use RTA’s online services.

Step 2: Select ‘Parking services’

From your dashboard, select the option for parking services and then select ‘Parking fines notification setup’.

The system will already show the car or cars registered under your name. Enter the driver’s mobile number as well as the duration for which he or she will use the car.

According to the RTA, even though the notification will be sent to the registered mobile number and the driver’s mobile number, the violation will be issued on the vehicle, not the individual’s driving licence.
