Dubai: To complete several vehicle and licensing services in Dubai, car owners need to simply turn to their smartphone or a laptop nearby. Earlier this week, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that it would be shifting several services like vehicle licensing certificates and payment of fines to digital channels only. The new services like issuing an insurance refund certificate, vehicle ownership certificate, vehicle clearance certificate and payment of fines will only be available online from June 13.
Currently, RTA provides 136 services specifically for motorists in Dubai, which have to do with learning and driving permits, parking permits, special driver’s requirements in case of medical conditions and managing their Salik account. Creating an RTA account
If you wish to complete any of these services, you would need to create an RTA account. You can do so through the following channels:
1. RTA website – www.rta.ae
2. RTA’s smartphone apps – ‘RTA Dubai’ and ‘RTA Dubai Drive’
To register, click on log in and follow these steps:
1. Select ‘Register as an individual user’
2. Enter your personal details like username, name and nationality.
3. Enter your contact details like your mobile number and email address.
4. You will then receive a one-time password (OTP) through an SMS on your phone or via email, depending on your preference.
5. Once you confirm the OTP, you will be able to access the services listed above.
