In a social media post on its official social media accounts, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) reminded workers in the UAE on six duties of every employee in the UAE.

The post read: “The UAE’s Labour Law includes a set of duties that employees must comply with when working in the country. These include abiding by the company’s confidentiality rules and not committing any crimes that might affect public morale.”

The video also listed six things that one should take note of, while working in the country: 1.	Don't assume a false identity or nationality nor provide false documents.

    2.	Don't commit a mistake that might result in a heavy financial loss for the employer. 3.	Don't violate your work's safety environment instructions.

    4.	Don't be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the working hours. 5.	Don't assault your employer or colleagues or manager.

    6.	Don't skip work without giving a reason for more than 20 intermittent days or seven consecutive days during the year.

These acts are specifically mentioned in Article 120 of the UAE Labour Law, which stipulates the various cases where an employer may dismiss a worker, without prior notice.

The Article also includes the following situations: 1. Should the worker be appointed under probation, and the dismissal occur during or at the end of the probation period.

    2. Should the worker fail to perform his main duties in accordance with the employment contract, and fail to remedy such failure despite a written investigation on the matter and a warning that he will be dismissed in case of recidivism [repeating the offence].

    3. Should he divulge any of the secret of the establishment where he works. 4. Should he be convicted in a final manner by the competent court in a crime of honour, honesty or public ethics.

While Article 120 of the UAE Labour Law lays out the reasons for which termination without notice is legal, Article 122 stipulates that if an employee is fired for reasons not related to work performance, or for malicious reasons, it would be considered arbitrary dismissal.
