Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman offer free parking, extra bus trips for the holiday rush
Dubai: Eid Al Fitr is just around the corner, and public transport authorities across the UAE have announced their plans to accommodate the increased demand during the holiday. These include free public parking and extended operating hours for public transport services like the Dubai Metro, as well as additional bus services.
In Dubai, all public parking will be free during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, except for multi-level parking terminals. The free parking period will run from the 1st to the 3rd of Shawwal, with paid parking fees resuming on the 4th of Shawwal.
The Dubai Metro will also extend its operating hours during the Eid break. The Red and Green Line stations will operate as follows: on Saturday, 29 March, from 5 am to 1 am (the following day); on Sunday, 30 March, from 8 am to 1 am (the following day); and from Monday to Wednesday, 31 March to 2 April, from 5 am to 1 am (the following day). The Dubai Tram will operate from Saturday to Monday, 29 to 31 March, from 6 am to 1 am (the following day). On Sunday, 30 March, services will start at 9 am and continue until 1 am (the following day).
Sharjah Municipality has confirmed free public parking on the first three days of Eid, except in blue-signposted paid zones, which remain active year-round, including on public holidays. Inspection teams will be monitoring violations to prevent misuse of parking spaces.
Additionally, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) will operate over 7,000 intercity buses to meet the increased demand during the public holidays.
Ajman Municipality has announced that all paid parking in Ajman will be free from the 1st to the 3rd of Shawwal, in celebration of Eid Al Fitr.
