Ah, vacation brain,  late nights, sleeping in, endless screen time, and the occasional meltdown over broccoli. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it.

Now, the first day of school looms, and suddenly those carefree days feel like a distant dream. Don’t panic ,  there’s a way to ease your little one back into school mode without tears, tantrums, or bribery… well, maybe just a little.

With a little help from experts, we've compiled some fun hacks for you.

Trick the clock

Start shifting bedtimes and wake-up times a week before school. Even 15–30 minutes earlier each day can save your mornings from chaos.

Make mornings less miserable

No one likes dragging themselves out of bed, not even adults. Play some upbeat tunes, let them pick their outfit, or bribe them with a fancy toast breakfast.

Ease into homework (gently).

Don’t expect full-blown essays on day one. Start with short, fun activities: A quiz, a puzzle, or even reading their favourite book. Think of it as a brain warm-up rather than a pop quiz. Yikes.

Talk about the fun stuff

Yes, school is work, but it’s also a place to see friends, join clubs, and show off their new backpack. Remind your child about the fun side, and maybe sneak in a little healthy bragging about their new shoes.

Get them involved

Let your child help organise their school bag, desk, or locker. They will feel in control, and you will feel like a genius parent for turning prep into a bonding moment.

Keep the check-in

The first week back can be a rollercoaster. Ask how their day went, celebrate little wins, and listen to their drama,  trust us, you will need those stories for later memories.

Tame the screens

Vacations mean extra screen time. Ease back into a school-friendly routine by cutting late-night device use and encouraging a bit of reading or outdoor play.
