The rumour mill is abuzz that Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are set to marry.
While People magazine has cited a ‘source’ confirming the news, the actress has also bowed out of her Bollywood comeback film Bharat, after a two-year hiatus from the film industry in India to pursue her Hollywood career.
The news of her quitting the Salman Khan-starrer was announced by director, Ali Abbas Zafar. The filmmaker posted on the social media that Chopra was not a part of the project any more, adding that she opted out of the project in the ‘Nick of time’, further hinting that the news of the engagement could be true.
“Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of ‘Bharat’ and and the reason is very very special,” wrote Zafar, adding: “She told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her... Team ‘Bharat wishes Priyanka Chopra loads of love and happiness for life.”

People magazine cited a source close to the couple who confirmed Chopra and Jonas got engaged on the former’s 36th birthday on July 18 in London.

The magazine further stated the Chains hit maker had closed down a Tiffany and Co jewellery store in New York City earlier to buy the ring.
The couple have been the talk of the town ever since they were seen bonding at last year’s Met Gala in New York City. While they denied they were dating at the time, they were spotted together in May this year when the actress hit up the Beauty and the Beast Live concert at the Hollywood Bowl with Jonas by her side.
That same week, Chopra and Jonas were spotted at a Los Angeles Dodgers game, followed by a weekend together with friends marking the US Memorial Day.
If there was any doubt about their relationship, Jonas all but confirmed his feelings when he commented on Chopra’s Instagram post, complimenting her smile in a picture with a heart emoji. The Instagram flirting continued between the duo even as Chopra and Jonas set out to meet each other’s respective families. The actress was spotted with Jonas at his cousin’s wedding in June, before finally flying to Mumbai with him later that month and putting all rumours to rest.
On the India trip, Jonas was spotted bonding with Chopra’s mother, along with her cousin and Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra on a trip to Goa; the couple also attended Indian business magnate Mukesh Ambani’s son’s engagement party and were spotted wearing matching rings on the trip.

Their whirlwind romance continued with the couple globetrotting to Brazil, New York and London, all in one month, where Chopra also spent time with her beau’s brother, Joe Jonas, and his fiance, Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner.
Both, Chopra and Jonas have yet to confirm the engagement.
