Dubai: Mohanlal’s Thudarum is enjoying a bullish run at the UAE box office, clocking an impressive 351,603 admissions so far.

Over the May 2–4 weekend alone, the Malayalam thriller pulled in 88,828 admissions, according to local distributors Phars Films.

The movie's strong box-office stampede underscores this region's deep-rooted love for Malayalam cinema.

Globally, Thudarum has entered the coveted Rs1 billion club on day six, becoming the second Malayalam blockbuster of 2025 to do so after L2: Empuraan. While Empuraan reached the milestone in just two days, Thudarum is now the second fastest Malayalam film to cross that benchmark this year.

This also marks Mohanlal’s fourth Rs1 billion, following Pulimurugan, Lucifer, and L2: Empuraan. Its worldwide gross of approximately Dh44.5 million cements the superstar’s unmatched cross-border appeal.

In my review, I noted how Thudarum isn’t a high-octane spectacle, but a simmering, emotionally anchored thriller. Mohanlal delivers a deeply restrained performance, while Prakash Varma and Binu Pappu stand out as chilling antagonists.

It’s clear: when Mohanlal goes subtle, the box office gets loud.
