Popular Telugu character artist and comedian Adusumilli Janardhan Vara Prasad aka Ahuti Prasad died on Sunday at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 62.
“He was undergoing treatment for some health-related issues at our hospital for the last few days. He showed signs of improvement last week, but his condition worsened this morning [Sunday] and he died,” a source from KIMS Hospital said.
According to industry sources, Prasad was suffering from colon cancer.
He made his cinematic debut in the 1988 Telugu film Ahuti. Since then, he acted in more than 100 films, predominantly in Telugu, and one each in Tamil and Hindi as well.
He played a brief role in the Amitabh Bachchan movie Sooryavansham.
Some of his best Telugu films include Malliswari, Bendu Apparao RMP, Indra and Chandamama.
He is survived by his wife and two sons, Karthik and Bharani.
