Dubai: The much-anticipated Malayalam film Patriot, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal, has been postponed from its original theatrical release date, with the makers confirming a new worldwide release. The film was earlier scheduled to hit cinemas on April 23.

Patriot marks the on-screen reunion of Mammootty and Mohanlal after 16 years, adding to the excitement surrounding the project. Written and directed by Mahesh Narayanan, the film is an espionage thriller that has generated strong buzz since the release of its teaser last October.

The delay comes amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, which are believed to have impacted distribution plans, particularly across GCC markets. Despite the postponement, the makers have assured fans that the decision was taken to ensure the best possible cinematic experience.

In an official statement shared on Instagram, the team said, “We are working hard to bring Patriot to you at the highest possible quality. However, due to a combination of unforeseen circumstances, it has become necessary to postpone the film’s release.” They added that further updates will be shared through the official social media pages of the lead actors.

The teaser hints at a gripping narrative centred on power, faith and control, with Mammootty playing a man on a covert mission, while Mohanlal appears as a soldier. Fahadh Faasil adds further intrigue to the storyline.

The film also features Nayanthara, Rajeev Menon, Revathy and Grace Antony in key roles, making it one of the most awaited releases of the year.
