Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has made a heartfelt spiritual gesture following the massive success of his latest film ‘Thudarum’. The veteran actor offered a golden vel (spear) to Lord Murugan at the Thirumalai Kumarasamy Temple in the Sengkottai sub-division of Tamil Nadu's Tenkasi district.

According to reports, Mohanlal visited the shrine in person, offered prayers, and presented the symbolic spear as a mark of gratitude. The gesture holds special significance as the character portrayed by Mohanlal in 'Thudarum' is a devotee of Lord Murugan.

The actor also shared a message on his official X and Instagram handles, writing, “Thank You, Almighty #Thudarum,” expressing his gratitude for the film’s exceptional reception.

‘Thudarum’, directed by Tharun Moorthy, has become a blockbuster, earning over ₹100 crore from Kerala alone — a rare feat in the state’s film industry.

Celebrating the milestone, Mohanlal had posted a commemorative poster reading, “A new chapter in Kerala box office history. A 100 crore Kerala gross.” He added, “#Thudarum storms into the record books… A milestone that we created together! Thank you, Kerala.”

The film’s resounding success has also been welcomed by theatre owners and distributors, who credit Thudarum with rejuvenating footfalls in cinemas across the state.

In a heartfelt note earlier, Mohanlal had thanked audiences for embracing a film that, in his words, was made “with care, with purpose, and above all, with truth.”

‘Thudarum’ features music by Jakes Bejoy, cinematography by Shaji Kumar, and editing by Shafeeque V B and Nishadh Yusuf. The screenplay was penned by K R Sunil and director Tharun Moorthy, whose collaboration has evidently struck a chord with audiences and critics alike.
