His book Mukharagam will take a deep dive into his 47 years of cinematic dominance
Love him or side-eye him for his iffy MeToo stance, there’s no denying one thing—Mohanlal is still very much the moment in Malayalam cinema. And what better way to mark his 65th birthday than by dropping his official biography Mukharagam, a deep dive into his 47 years of cinematic dominance.
Authored by Bhanu Prakash and set to reportedly release on December 25, 2025, the book traces Lalettan’s rise from fresh-faced newcomer to screen legend. The timing’s no coincidence—it marks 47 years since he first stepped in front of the camera.
In a video shared on social media (because how else do you make a splash these days?), Mohanlal thanked Bhanu Prakash and confirmed that Mukharagam will be published by Mathrubhumi Books. Oh, and did we mention that literary giant MT Vasudevan Nair is writing the foreword? Icon status: Confirmed.
“This book reflects different phases of my life across 47 years,” Mohanlal said. “Bhanu Prakash has worked hard to bring it all together in words.”
If you thought the veteran was slowing down, think again. Mohanlal is riding high after the roaring success of Thudarum, a nostalgic drama that reminded fans why he still owns the screen. The film smashed records, becoming the first Malayalam movie to rake in over Rs1billion at the Kerala box office quickly.
Earlier this year, he kicked off 2025 with Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Despite its mixed reviews, it stormed the box office and became the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. Legends only.
He’s not done yet. Mohanlal just wrapped Hridayapoorvam, a Sathyan Anthikad family drama with a packed ensemble that includes Malavika Mohanan, Sangita Madhavan Nair, Siddique, Baburaj, and SP Charan.
Up next? A buzzy big-budget flick MMMN with Mammootty and Nayanthara, plus a cheeky cameo in Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa.
