The beloved icon sang his way into his fans' hearts gathered at Sharjah this weekend
Dubai: Who needs candles when thousands of mobile flashlights lit up the night in Mohanlal’s honour?
The legendary Malayalam actor, celebrated for his timeless appeal, kicked off his 65th birthday celebrations early in Sharjah — and the atmosphere was pure magic. His birthday falls on May 21.
The seventh edition of ‘Come On Kerala’, the Indian trade, culture, and entertainment showcase at Expo Centre Sharjah, turned star-studded the moment he took the stage.
Decked out in charm and charisma, Lalettan, as he is loving called by his army of Malayalam movie fans, gave fans all the feels by singing a classic from his iconic comedy Kilukkam turning the venue into a giant karaoke session of love and nostalgia.
“This isn’t just a celebration,” he said, starting off in English with his trademark gravitas. “It’s a symbol of unity, pride, and the global journey of Kerala’s people.” Yes, King. Say it louder for the ones in the back!
He didn’t stop there — Mohanlal tipped his hat to Sharjah’s cultural spirit and leadership, saying: “Kerala has always been a land of stories — of scholars, farmers, entrepreneurs. Tonight, we don’t just celebrate the past. We look to the future.”
And just when you thought it couldn’t get more heartfelt, he flipped to Malayalam — and boom! Emotions everywhere. “I am so honoured. So overwhelmed. This sea of love…” he said, eyes glistening, heart full.
Then came the mic drop moment: “Let this love Thudarum", which roughly translates to To Be continued, alluding to his latest blockbuster.
It was a cheeky reference, but also a promise. Because with Mohanlal, the magic always continues.
