Dubai: Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko, who has been battling allegations of sexual misconduct, was injured in a near-fatal road accident that claimed his father's life. According to reports, the car accident took place near Salem in Tamil Nadu. His father CP Chacko did not make it.

Reports on Manorama Online say the family was travelling from Ernakulam to Bengaluru around 10pm and the accident occurred around 6am. The actor and his family are being treated at a nearby hospital.

Reports claim a truck veered off the highway and rammed into their car. Shine's father was seated in the middle row alongside his wife who sustained critical injuries. The actor, asleep on the back row, has sustained injuries in his right hand and will need surgery.

Who's Shine Tom Chacko?

Shine Tom Chacko is Malayalam cinema’s resident wild card — a talented actor who’s never too far from trouble. He started off quietly behind the camera as an assistant director, only to burst onto the scene with edgy roles in films like Ithihasa and Ishq. But just when his star was rising, his off-screen antics stole the spotlight — from a high-profile drug bust in 2015 (he was acquitted, by the way) to recent on-set drama that’s kept gossip columns buzzing. Love him or side-eye him, Shine has mastered the art of staying controversial — and somehow, still cast.
