TikTok influencer Sumeera Rajput was found dead at her home in Sindh’s Ghotki district, Geo News reported. Rajput, with over 58,000 followers and one million likes, is the latest female influencer targeted in Pakistan.

According to Ghotki Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Anwar Khetran, Rajput was discovered dead at her residence in the Bago Wah area on Friday afternoon.

Suspects arrested for alleged poisoning

Authorities have arrested two suspects, Babu Rajput and Muhammad Imran, following a complaint by the deceased’s sister, Arab News reported. The post-mortem confirmed poisoning as the cause of death, and investigations are ongoing.

Rajput’s 15-year-old daughter told police her mother had been forced into marriage and was administered poisonous tablets, leading to her death, according to District Police Officer Anwar Shaikh.

No First Information Report (FIR) has been registered yet. Although suspects remain in custody, Geo News reported that authorities have not publicly confirmed a motive, raising concerns about the police response and the protection of women’s rights.

Growing pattern of violence

Rajput is the third female TikToker to die violently in Pakistan within two months, the report said. In July, a father shot his daughter in Rawalpindi after she refused to delete her TikTok account. Last month, 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf was fatally shot inside her home in Islamabad, sparking nationwide outrage.

Ongoing investigation

Rajput’s body was examined at a local hospital where no external signs of violence were found. Samples have been sent for laboratory analysis. Police continue investigations but have yet to register a formal FIR.

While Umar Hayat’s swift arrest for the killing of Sana Yousaf demonstrated prompt police action, the wider issue of violence against women on social media persists in Pakistan.

The deaths of Rajput and Yousaf expose deep systemic failures, where justice remains elusive and outspoken women face grave risks simply for their public visibility.
