Vir Das to shoot pilot for US comedy show

Actor Vir Das will be seen in the first episode of an American comedy show.

Das was signed by CAA, the agency that used to work with Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra,

“Vir was being majorly noticed by the American entertainment industry from quite sometime, especially after his comedy tours. He is getting an amazing response from the audience here,” a spokesperson said.

The Go Goa Gone actor has previously done a three-city US comedy tour. He has also performed at Carolines on Broadway, a top New York stand-up comedy night club.

After the success of the first tour, he was invited to do 27 shows in 35 days in the US. He was then signed by the world’s largest comedy management company, Levity Entertainment Group.

“We believe that is what prompted the production house to approach him. He has now started shooting for the pilot season of this comedy show. The rest of the schedule is yet to be decided,” the spokesperson added.

Levity Entertainment Group has worked with world renowned comedians such as Jamie Foxx, Jeff Dunham, Trevor Noah, Daniel Tosh, Tracy Morgan, Amy Schumer and Gabriel Iglesias. Das is first Indian comedian to be signed by the organisation.
