Actress Vidya Balan, along with a few real-life detectives, unveiled the trailer of her forthcoming film Bobby Jasoos on Tuesday.

“I have never seen such a turnout for any of the events. Thank you for coming. It was a very different experience altogether shooting for this film. We did a lot of research and met a few detectives and spoke to them before shooting for the film,” Balan told reporters.

The actress — famous for her transformative costumes — said one of her favourite parts of the film was dressing as a man.

“As soon as I reached the sets, many people didn’t even recognise me. I loved the male disguises. It was a great opportunity to do that,” she said.

Dia Mirza, who is one of the producers of the fim, says Balan was the only choice for the role.

“I have worked with Vidya before and she is one actress who gives her best. I have witnessed her working style and she puts in everything for a film,” she said.

The two actresses worked in the 2005 release Parineeta.

Veteran actress Supriya Pathak, who will be seen as Balan’s mother in Bobby Jasoos, says there should be sequel to the film as she can’t get over it.

“I think we should make a sequel because now we are not on the sets and I can’t get enough of it,” Pathak said. “I have never had this kind of fun ever shooting for any film,” she added.

The film is directed by Samar Shaikh and co-produced by Mirza and Sahil Sangha.

Balan, when asked if she has ever been a detective for her husband, said: “He is too boring. I don’t have to turn detective for him ever.

“You all should give me good news on July 4. The film should get a good opening and everybody should appreciate the film and that will be the good news,” she said.
