Rock On 2 producer Ritesh Sidhwani says he was disappointed that the film’s box office collection was affected due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to demonetise Rs1,000 [Dh54.21] and Rs500 notes.

“Of course, it is disappointing. There was collateral damage to what the larger picture was by the government. We can’t be selfish, but personally it is disappointing because you made a film for two years and there is no second chance that we will get. We won’t have a second chance because next week there will be some other film,” said Sidhwani.

Directed by Shujaat Saudagar, Rock On 2 features Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Purab Kohli, Arjun Rampal and Shashank Arora. The film released on Friday in India. The makers of Rock On 2 have come up with some innovative ideas like PVR cinemas are waving off the convenience fee.

Sidhwani hopes the situation gets better by Monday.

“What I learnt from [multiplexes] PVR and Inox is that almost 40 to 45 per cent of transactions is done through digital. We worked with them on that, but they have removed so many incentive schemes. But the issue is that people’s priority is to sort out the current situation. I don’t think this is on the priority that they want to watch a movie,” he said.
