Mumbai: Former Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani’s farmhouse in Pune’s Maval taluka was allegedly vandalised and burgled while it remained unoccupied for months, police said.

A case of burglary was reported at the Tikona Peth bungalow—owned by Bijlani and her husband, former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin—located near Lonavala. The theft occurred sometime between March 7 and July 18, 2025, according to Pune Rural Police.

Burglars broke in through back wall

As per the FIR, unknown miscreants broke into the property by cutting the wire mesh of the rear compound wall. They then climbed onto the first-floor gallery, pried open a window grill, and entered the house.

At the time of the break-in, neither Bijlani nor any staff were present at the farmhouse.

Rs 57,000 loss reported; FIR registered

The thieves allegedly made away with Rs50,000 in cash and a TV worth Rs7,000, bringing the total estimated loss to Rs57,000. In addition to the theft, several household items were deliberately vandalised, police said.

The complaint was filed by Mohammad Mujib Khan, a 54-year-old personal assistant to Azharuddin, who resides in Sambhajinagar. He noted that the bungalow had been unoccupied between March and July, making it vulnerable to theft.

Police launch probe; no recovery yet

The Lonavala Rural Police registered a case on July 19 under BNS Sections 331(3), 331(4), 305(a), 324(4), and 324(5) against unknown persons. Police have yet to recover the stolen items and are examining CCTV footage and forensic evidence to trace the culprits.
